Rays and Jays - Soaking up the Beltane Sun

The cherry blossoms are blooming and the flowers are starting to pop off! Beltane is only a few days away, meaning we are at that half point between the Spring Equinox and the Summer Solstice. Beltane is a time dedicated to honoring and enjoying nature as well as embracing the fertility and new life that is currently happening in the world and most likely in your life.

Our lives often mimic the cycles of nature wether we intend it or not. During the Winter months we often stay in more, we eat more root vegetables, soups and nurture our bodies much differently than we do in the Summer when it is hot and we want lighter foods and have less of an appetite.

More than just our diet, natures cycles effect our lives in a myriad of ways. Just as the trees are beginning to blossom with flowers and sprout leaves, for some of us our brains are beginning to do the same thing. Whether it be with different projects we want to do around the house, to major lifestyle changes, to deciding to finally write that book! From the breaths of fresh air, to watching the flower petals dance in the winds, to sitting outside enjoying rays of the sun, this time of year brings an invigorating energy that inspires the mind and uplifts the soul.

In honor of Beltane, I recommend doing something outside and getting in touch with Nature. There is a plethora of ways and it doesn't have to be difficult!

5 Outdoor Activities for Beltane

  1. Sit in a park and read poetry, a book or write in your journal.

  2. Do a clean up with some friends. Grab some sturdy and thick gloves (reusable ones are the most Earth conscious;) and some trash bags then pick a park or street near your house to pick up the trash on. Cleaning the Earth is incredibly cool.

  3. Enjoy the rays and some jays, Lady Jays that is. The Sun is finally out and after Winter it is always revitalizing to soak up some much needed vitamin D.

  4. Go for a hike or a walk on the beach. If you have a car and are able to get out of the city, or maybe you already live out of the city, great! Either way, if you can, get your butt out on a hike or a walk!

  5. Go Wildflower picking, again, if you can get out to somewhere this is possible, then what are you waiting for! Nature is showing the fuck off right now and she wants you to pay attention to her, so do it! Just be gracious and kind and don't over pick or take anything you know you shouldn't.

And just incase you needed some joint recommendations, I've got a few here for you!
